Applique.

This is where shapes are cut from pieces of fabric and stitched to the front of a quilt. This can either be done by hand, which is the traditional method of doing Applique or you can use your sewing machine if you prefer. With Applique, a fusible material is ironed to the back of the fabric and this is then ironed onto the quilt. This helps to keep the Applique piece in place while you sew around it.
